Doesn’t the SDA Church fit the classic definition of a cult?

Cult expert Walter Martin carefully evaluated us more than 50 years ago and determined that the SDA Church is not a cult. He did have second thoughts after the “Desmond Ford controversy,” when many pastors and members left the church. But many Adventists (including most active pastors, from my conversations with them) do believe exactly what Walter Martin originally vindicated as thoroughly Christian. I (Martin) personally knew Walter Martin as a boy in New Jersey, and also as a young pastor in Southern California during the Ford crisis.
